Richard kindly helped us with the plans to make some alterations to our kitchen within a listed building. He was very efficient and the drawings/ supporting information he provided was excellent. As part of the process we had to make some modifications to our plans (the joys of old buildings) and again he was very helpful and turned these around quickly. Richard is clearly very knowledgeable and was highly professional to deal with.

Richard managed to rearrange his diary at short notice due to a “panic” by our builders some way into the garage conversion.
Richard designed and recommended the appropriate people to purchase and install the metal beams and weld on site.
Was anxious as seemed a big job, but Richard reassured us and all went to plan. Loving the new space and can’t believe we coped with the original kitchen.

Over the last few years I have used Rymer Designs for various jobs at my house involving steels and walls. He has great attention to detail and delivered on time and to price.

Avoid at all costs!
We paid Mr Rymer £400 for a site inspection and dimension survey for 2 steel beams for our renovation project. It took almost 4 weeks to receive the calculations back. When we went to install the beams, which took 8 people on site and a telehandler they were 300mm and 400mm too short and £600 of steels were wasted. I contacted Mr Rymer who only then decided to point out the small print saying they were for design purposes only and not for fabrication/building work. Surely, a dimension survey would reinforce that the measurements were accurate? Initially, Mr Rymer appeared to be willing to assist but for some reason he is now refusing to assist any further. We feel completely let down by Mr Rymer, especially as we were trying to get this resolved amicably. We are now £1k out of pocket and still do not have the correct steels or accurate calculations for the beams. Please look elsewhere for a reliable structural engineer, it will save you a lot of time and money in the long run.
